米春亭:High Efficiency Wireless Charging of Electric Vehicles

米春亭博士是IEEE的Fellow,SAE的Fellow,美国圣地亚哥州立大学电气与计算机工程系教授、主任,加利福利亚大学圣地亚哥分校的兼职教授,美国能源部GATE中心主任,IEEE Transactions on VehicularTechnology 期刊区域主编,2001年至2015年曾是密歇根大学德尔本分校的教授。米博士本科、硕士毕业于西安的西北工业大学,博士毕业于加拿大多伦多大学,米博士一直从事电气工程学的研究。曾就职于通用电气加拿大公司,担任电气工程师。2008年2011年曾创办1PowerSolutions公司,并担任总裁兼CTO,也是GannonMotors and Controls LLC以及Mia Motors, Inc.的联合创始人。同时,米教授在2012年被聘为我校兼职教授。

米博士主要研究方向为新能源汽车电机及驱动系统的优化设计、电池的充放电管理、电动汽车的智能充电系统等方面,已经发表了100多篇文章并受邀成为30多个主题演讲及分会的主持人。

报告简介:

Wireless powertransfer technology offers significant improvement in convenience and electricsafety for electric vehicle (EV) charging. Our research aims at novel designsthat considerably reduce size and cost while increasing the couplingcoefficient and improving the misalignment capability. We will first introducethe basics of wireless power transfer followed by discussion of a double-sidedLCC topology which further enhances the system efficiency. Experiments showthat tens of kilowatts of power transfer can be achieved over 200mm distancewith an efficiency of 97% (DC-DC), and an alignment tolerance of up to 300mm. Wewill then discuss the capacitive power transfer (CPT) for EV chargingapplications. It has been an established myth that good efficiency andstability of control was only possible at low power levels (in the tens ofwatts) and with low transfer distances (in the millimeter range) for CPT. Wehave shown that it is possible to achieve excellent efficiencies at the powerlevel and distance applicable to EV charging, breaking the established myth,enabling a paradigm change on EV charging, and making low cost wireless power transferfrom science fiction to reality. A double-sided LCLC-compensated topology wasproposed. A 2.4kW CPT system was designed with four 610mm × 610mm aluminumplates at a distance of 150mm. The experimental prototype reached a DC-DCefficiency of 90.8% at 2.4kW output power. The CPT system provides a much lowercost and better misalignment capability then inductive wireless power transfer.
